Beginning students will learn how to create beautiful sun catchers or small art pieces using the copper foil method of stained glass. You will learn proper glass cutting, shaping and soldering techniques, in a fun, safe and nurturing environment. No previous glass cutting experience is necessary—we’ll teach you everything you need to know!
More experienced students may take on more complex projects, with the understanding that they may not finish within the allotted 8 hour block of time. If this is the case, additional time may be purchased, or the student may choose to take the unfinished piece home to complete on their own.
Besides being heralded as one of the top stained glass artists in the country, Beglar Merlich is also recognized for his teaching skills. Students are immersed in an atmosphere fostering creativity and experimentation, and immediately begin to learn the tricks of the trade from a true Master in the art form. Classes are small to insure plenty of one-on-one time with the teacher, and safety is key. Students are continually reminded of appropriate safety attire, equipment and techniques to promote a positive experience. Because of Beglar Merlich's unique and proven teaching method, classes are open to all skill levels. Beginners will feel just as comfortable as those with more experience!
Our classes are arranged and priced in blocks of time and are designed for beginners working on simple designs, as well as more experienced students creating larger, complex works of glass art. You may purchase an 8 hour block of time to be used in 2-hour increments. Many days and times are available, and can be determined on an as-needed basis with your teacher. All tools and materials used in class are provided to you (excluding framing materials) at no extra charge. As these classes are progressive in nature, all skill levels are welcome. Students work at their own pace, and projects of varying complexity are in progress at any given time.
